Research

At the core of any scientific progress is knowledge derived from research. FEMERIS supports translational research.

Biomarker Discovery and Diagnostic Test Development

We are applying strategies to discover and evaluate potential biomarkers for use in clinical laboratory testing. We are focused on biomarkers for early detection and evaluation of obstetric and gynecologic infectious diseases and medical conditions from sources such as vaginal, cervical, and uterine swabs, urine and blood.

Drug Target Discovery and High-Throughput Assay Development

We are interested in discovering novel and effective therapies of obstetric and gynecologic infectious diseases and medical conditions.

Probiotic Molecular Engineering

We are interested in developing yeast and bacterial probiotic strains to reduce the inflammation associated with Crohn’s and Irritable Bowel Diseases in the digestive tract. We are also interested in the development of these strains for the purpose of establishing maintaining a healthy vaginal flora for women with recurrent or chronic bacterial vaginosis.
